Career Day with Firefighters and Fire Safety Education
The Vocational Work Skills Class hosted an exciting and educational first Career Day of 2024!
We were invited to Firehall No. 3 in Mount Pleasant by the dedicated firefighters from Shift C. During our visit, we had the incredible opportunity to tour the fire hall, sit in the fire trucks, and try on the firefighter uniforms!
The firefighters shared valuable insights into their daily duties and responsibilities, including what a typical workday looks like and what happens when the alarm goes off. Our members were fascinated by the behind-the-scenes details and enjoyed exploring the fire trucks up close.
Following this thrilling visit, we had an amazing guest join us at PASS—Firefighter Owen, who visited to teach our members about fire safety. He led an engaging session on how to use a fire extinguisher, shared important safety tips, and even held quizzes to test our knowledge. Owen answered many of our members' questions, making the experience both fun and educational.
It was an inspiring day filled with valuable lessons and hands-on learning. Our members gained a greater appreciation for the essential work of firefighters and learned important safety skills they can apply in their everyday lives!
