Chris C

Chris’ busy schedule

This remarkable young man stands as a testament to the immense potential within autistic individuals to contribute meaningfully to their communities when given the opportunity and belief.

The challenges Chris faces daily, such as anxiety, vocalizations, and occasional unexpected movements, could create a barrier between him and potential employers. However, who better than Chris to demonstrate that with support and understanding, these barriers can be turned to dust?

Chris thrives in various roles within PASS social enterprise, the Stanley Park Ecology Society, The Minuteman Press, and previously, performing cleaning tasks in a film studio and local cafes. His desire to participate, belong, and be recognized as a capable and independent young adult inspires us all.

  • Hobbies

Chris enjoys staying active and finds joy in various activities. He loves sports, such as biking, rowing, and going to the gym. Watching funny movies and playing with silly putty also makes him happy, as does spending time in nature. But above all, Chris is a big foodie! He just loves chips, pizza, battered fish, dumplings, and candy. His favorite weekend treat is a mango smoothie, and he never turns down a bit of popcorn, especially when enjoying it while watching "The Lorax"!

  • Social Enterprise

Despite his packed schedule with numerous outings and activities, Chris occasionally finds time to pick up a shift or two at our social enterprise.

He's skilled at sorting and performs great disassembling items for our partner: SWISSBO.

Chris often lends a hand with packaging during the busy holiday season.
Additionally, he's quite adept with a hot glue gun.

  • Employment Program

Chris' resume is truly impressive. Since 2019, he had been helping at Burroughs Printing, aiding in recycling cardboard and maintaining cleanliness. Additionally, since 2022, he has been performing similar tasks at Minuteman Press.

Chris also volunteered for the Stanley Park Ecology Society, removing invasive plants.

Additionally, he has taken on cleaning roles for a movie studio and volunteered with the Canucks Autism Network, assisting with laundry tasks.

Chris is strong and energetic, and his employers value him as much as we take joy in accompanying him on his job endeavors.

The importance of small pleasures

Chris's favorite weekday is Tuesday because it's when he gets to go on his favorite outing.
He takes a bag filled with bottles and pop-cans recycled in PASS and delivers them to the bottle depot.
For the past few years, Chris has been setting aside his bottle depot earnings to one day donate to a charity on behalf of PASS and himself.
On his way back to PASS from the bottle depot, Chris stops at a local coffee shop and treats himself to his favorite orange juice. Chris understands the importance of balancing small pleasures with doing good deeds.
