Hunter Heartbeat Method

The Hunter Heartbeat Method is a Shakespearian-based theater intervention developed by Kelly Hunter of the Royal Shakespeare Company. The Hunter Heartbeat method is based around the rhythm of iambic pentameter and the sound of the heartbeat.

Over the last 20 years, teaching strategies and intervention methods of HHM, have been refined and have been anecdotally effective in improving social and communication skills with individuals of all ages and across the autism spectrum.

Inclusive Arts Education Conference.

In October 2023, PASS Marketplace Lead: Agata Makowiecka was invited as a guest and co-facilitator for Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati’s first Inclusive Arts Education Conference.

This inaugural gathering included Kelly Hunter, creator of The Hunter Heartbeat Method, and Kevin McClatchy, professor and director of the Shakespeare and Autism Project at Ohio State University, as well as other devotees and facilitators of The Hunter Heartbeat Method from across North America.

This intensive training was a step towards the greater goal to truly make Arts Education accessible to all.

Now PASS is taking the next step forward.

Beginning January 2024, PASS members have begun practicing The Hunter Heartbeat Method on real stages and in rehearsal rooms, thanks to the generous support of Bard on the Beach at BMO Theatre in Vancouver.

Our ambitions are lofty, including planned performances with audiences, engagement with professional actors, and the prospect of inviting Kelly to lead a workshop in Vancouver.

Achieving these goals will require time and fundraising efforts, but our enthusiasm knows no bounds.

Stay tuned for more details on this exciting opportunity.
