Taking Centre Stage
We’re thrilled to share some exciting updates about our Drama program!
We reached out to local theatres Tightrope Theatre and BMO’s Bard on the Beach, and they have generously allowed us to use their stages and rehearsal rooms to practice and enhance our Drama program. This collaboration opens up incredible opportunities for our members to experience real-world theatrical spaces as they continue their journey in the arts.
This October, PASS Marketplace Lead Agata Makowiecka was invited as a guest and co-facilitator for Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati’s first-ever Inclusive Arts Education Conference. This inaugural event brought together some of the most influential figures in inclusive arts, including Kelly Hunter, creator of The Hunter Heartbeat Method, and Kevin McClatchy, professor and director of the Shakespeare and Autism Project at Ohio State University.
This method has proven transformative, combining rhythm, heartbeat, and movement to connect individuals with autism to the world of drama and performance.
Our ambitions for the program are growing rapidly. We are planning future performances with live audiences, collaboration with professional actors, and are even working towards inviting Kelly Hunter to lead a workshop right here in Vancouver.
While achieving these goals will require time and fundraising efforts, our enthusiasm and determination are limitless. We are incredibly excited for what’s to come and deeply grateful for the ongoing support of our local theatre partners!
