PASS Celebrates India’s Independence Day
PASS Vancouver was full of color, culture, and community spirit as we celebrated India’s 78th Independence Day on August 15!
The celebration activities were organized by our amazing staff Nakita, Bharti and Nini (Thank you for creating such a fun and meaningful event!). Nakita and Bharti looked beautiful in traditional Indian dresses, and our program members joined the spirit by wearing the colors of the Indian flag: saffron, white, and green!
We spent the day making crafts, including painting Indian flags and pictures of the Taj Mahal. In the afternoon, everyone joined a lively party filled with fun games that brought out our energetic side.
Of course, we loooved the delicious spread of Indian food, especially the Gulab Jamun we had prepared together earlier that day. Bharti and Nakita also brought snacks, treats and desserts that we were thrilled to try: milk cake, spring rolls, samosas, and Faluda! We can’t wait for the 79th celebrations next years;)
One of the highlights was creating a special “Freedom Wall,” where everyone shared their personal wishes and dreams in celebration of independence and hope.
It was a day filled with joy, learning, and celebration of freedom and culture. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event truly unforgettable! 💚🤍🧡
